Permanent Lip Implants: Are They For You?

One of the newest lip augmentation trends has been lip implants.

In September 2007, FDA approved this Facial Implant. The Lip implants used for the enhancement of thin and aging lips.

The implant is inserted through small incisions at the corners and/or top of the lips and is molded manually, similar to injectable fillers which provide only temporary filling of the lips.

Lip Implant does not require replacement or repeated treatments unless there is a complication, and it does not rupture, is made of pliable silicone and various sizes are available.

The implant procedure, takes approximately half an hour to 1 hour under local anesthesia. As with any implant, there is risk of infection, as well as shifting and hardening of the implant. You may experience swelling or bruising for up to a week or more.

The Lip Implant can be easily removed at any time if problems arise, or if the results are not what the patient desired.

If a patient has had good experiences with lip filler injections and wants to achieve more long-term enhancement results, Lip Implant may be the right choice.

The lip implants look and feel very natural and are virtually unnoticeable while eating, kissing, etc.
